The difference how to work

Today Im talking about difference with Indian and Japan of how to work in engineer field through my experience.

At first, I need to mention about my previous project in japan before I join this company. I had worked for 6 month under a project leader who is intelligence and so strict. He is not normal employee, he has worked the company by individual contract. That is rare case in japan, Almost of engineer are belong to some company. I had learned a lot of things from him, like how to work, and what is job. I had just worked under him only six months, and I said him that I want to left your project to work in other country in 3 month latter. He said that I have nothing to teach any more a person who quite soon. He was so angry and said, If I know you have such plan, I don' make you join my project absolutely. But he let me learn so many thing for me.

On the work most important thing is protect the deadline of work, If you have no deadline work is not the work, that is just hobby. if it is hobby, It is not matter and problem when finish the work, anytime you can do even if you fail nobody don't care. but work is not kind of thing absolutely.

In his project, every project member have to send email to everyone at everyday about their plan and progress of the day before we left company . And next morning we have to report progress of previous day and the work what we do on the day. Until he or she have finish their task, they can not go back to home. and if they haven' finish their task, we have to consider the reason why we can not complete, and need to improve to fish on time.

That was so strict circumstance. I always go back to my home at am 0 or 1 o'clock. I can not finish my work on time because I was new staff in his project, but he talked to me, need to finish my work even if I don't know how to complete. I was scold by him almost everyday. But back on that days it was precious time to know how to work. That project team was so higher level compare the other project ever I have experience in japan.

And now I came to India and join india project team, at first I was so surprised the difference with the team I was in. I started skillup course of programing in here, after I finish one of the skillup task I need to say something to my boss. And
if he say that please wait some time until I need check it over reading some text book. He made me wait a couple days. I thought how slowly, and I knew Indian is said their characteristic is lazily. Besides we have a group meeting only a day one week. And team member reported their weekly task on a few sentence. I wondered how reader manage their task such short report. And on the team we don't share our task at all. A person who is new comer doesn't have any contact except his boss on the work. he or she are not able to know what their team member doing. When I was in Japan, on the my team we always share any information by using chat or by using daily email report.
That is so important thing for new comer to know how to work in team, It makes them start real work easily after finish their skillup task and to keep motivation.

And I surprised that when new comer have a skillup task, they don't have deadline. It mean that It is not problem when they finish, if they do not finish their task on the day or week, whenever they can go back home. And if he finish their task, reader makes wait a few days. It make motivation lower absolutely. If their progress is so late, It is not problem. Because they don't share their progress with team member. How lazy and slowly working style I thought when I come here and this is the difference with japanese. In India the train is how late, people don't care about it, in japan train alway come on time. And people accustom it since they born in this contry. And I wonder without any deadline task and no daily progress how they decide the time left company, and I wonder almost of staff go back at so late time even though new comer. why?

Now my boss changed other person who is young, but I think he try to understand what I feel and think maybe. In my team we report daily progress by email, and we have daily meeting, and we are using chat to share information. If a person don't do anything a few days, team member would wonder. And they doubt how to work of team reader and management skills. By sharing any information on their team, we can avoid laziness. We have to always open what we are doing to everyone definitely no any exception.

Conclusion I think that Indian are not good at considering process to finish their task but they are good at program skills and language skills maybe. It is said that Japanese engineer has gone in near future because of low cost of Asia engineer. But japanese engineer are good at consider process. it mean japanese have a huge advantage in Asia. and I think this is the only way for japanese have advantage against lower labor.

Sony Vs Apple

Recently Apple generate innovative products next by next. On the walkman share, they has deprived Sony's share completely. Why Sony is beaten them although apple entered that maket so late. Sony and Apple are indicate predisposition of japanese company and american company very well. Today I talk why sony's walkman is beaten completely by iPod.

In present we image ipod as for portable music player. But on 1990 it was walkman absolutely. Name of walkman is just a company's brand name, and that became category name on the music market. It shows that how this prodeuct penenate for coustomer in the world.
But they had continued to develop the new project, they released the memory stic walkman which be able to save memory not CD and MD like iPod, it was fastly than Apple company. In those day by evolution of tecnology music data is able to take in memory of device. It mean that they has developed the products which come through coustmer's need and market.

And two years later after sony's product, first iPod was release at 2001. they was late just two years than sony. Noramally saying Sony can have benefit on market as precession company. Why they was come from behind by apple in spite of two years late.

This is biggest reason that Sony can not throw CD and MD. those were developed by Sony. they can get high income from patent of them. And for that they have many factory includes equipment and employee. If Sony expand share of memory stick walkman means they deprive share of CD and MD by themselves.

And in constract situation, Apple company have nothing any equipment in their company for music market. it means They had been able to generate the prodeuct for maket directly. Sony have many kind of business, and they have many restriction like huge income of CD, and equipment and human, and interest with music company.

Thoses thing indicate remarkably predisposition of japanse company and america company as well. Japanese company have higher tecnhnology but their ability to take action is late. America company can do action as soon as they have idea.

As a next step of walkman, they will fight on the market of TV. Apple company is developping next innovate TV. And Sony started to tie up with google company has own TV brand agaist apple.
I hope that Sony would get share on the TV market without second defeat.

休みの日の過ごし方

インドに来てから4ヶ月、ここには日本に比べて娯楽があまりないので週末はだいたい同じ事をして過ごします。

朝起きるのはだいたい7時か、8時で、まず朝ご飯を食べたらマンションにあるジムに行きます。

ジムから帰ってきてシャワーを浴びる頃には11時。そのあとはいつもいくカフェに行って本を読みます。

インドは年中暑いので、外にもテーブルを置いてます。

読むのは日本から持ってきた日本語の本か、会社にあるプログラムの本を英語で読みます。

んで家に帰るのはだいたい昼の3時くらい。帰ったらインターネットオンライン英会話を一時間、それが終わったら海外ドラマをたいてい見ます。晩ごはんは一緒に住む駐在員と食べます。

土曜の夜はたいてい飲みにいきますが、インドでは飲めるところがとても少ないので、これもまたいつもと同じところにいきます。

どうして若者は3年で辞めるのか?

Why younger employee quit their company within 3 years?

I will introduce you a book which title is [why people quit their company within 3 years?]. This book was published at 2006, and then become best seller. In those days, it is said that 30 percent of employee would quit their company in 3 years. In other country, this phenomenon might not be unnormal. But japan is not, because almost of employee is protected their working life by permanent emplyment and seniority system. It is quite normal thing in unconsciously that they started to work after graduating universiy, they would have work untill 60 years and then get pension from country and also company for ther them old age.

well recently why younger employee try to quit their company although their working life is guaranteed. This book shows this answer from younger peopler's viewpoint. We ofen have hard from a lot of media like TV, newspeaper that recently young people is lazy and idle, not try to work hardly than compare a few decade ago. Older person accuse younger a such reason, and that is normal view. If you glance the title of this book, almost of people would think lazy younger people. But this book is not such kind book, and this is the reason this book became best seller. Subtitle has as "Seniorty system deprive future from younger"

What is Seniorty system? It shows that employee should work for only company in younger age even if it is monotonous and unintersted work. And they become older, then naturally their tecnical skill and salaly is higer year by year. If they obye company's order, they are able to have some better post, it means careea plan is given from company, they don't need to consider career.

But to keep senioty system, we have some important requirement. It means company have generate benefit permanently. But buble is collapse absolutely so it is reason buble is called buble. it means collapse of seniorty systems and permanent employment. And in place of adopt of new employment, they need to consider the their own plan what they want to do. and it occur the huge gap between company side and younger employee. If they have a own career plan to except their future, the company can not respond well. Then brilliant people decide to quite company. It exist some risky possible that if younger obey any order for company, but thot company don't have ability to respond it than before.

it is said this system is collapse for a long time ago, but actually it remain deeply in our society. I always wonder when I see some representative of company on the TV and magaizene, they are how older, althought older is not creative and not try to challenge new thing, forgettable and something. Besides it shows conspicuously in bigger and bigger company and close to public company and plitician.

This book shows that we has live in such our sense of value which has made in only growth economy days and it still remain in our society in any time, in any situation like to chose the school and company to talk our friend and farmily to marry someone to have date with girl in any situation we have. And writer said that we need remove such particular value in our head, and people should counsider to make career plan by themselves not from company.


ルネッサンス再生への道



今日はカフェに行ってカルロスゴーンの「ルネッサンス 再生への挑戦」という本を読んできました。知らない人はいないと思いますが、瀕死の状態だった日産を3310億円(過去最高)の黒字へと導いたフランス国籍をもつ
経営者です。ちまにみ上場企業経営者の役員報酬額で9億8200万円と一位に位置してます。
ひさしぶりに読んだ経営の本ですが、共感ができるところが多くてとても面白かったです。これから自分が進みたい道の道しるべを示してくれているような感じがした。

とくに興味深かったのは彼が、現場を重視しているということ。ミシュランという欧州のフランス企業に研究職としてオファーを貰っているにも関わらず、あえて開発部門の現場をビジネスの出発点として選びます。その理由に、製造部門こそ現場からトップマネジメントまでの会社全体の仕事や問題を発見するのにうってつけの場所だと考えていたらから。
30歳という若さでミシュランの南米事業を統括するCOOに就任し、ルノー、日産とキャリアを築いていきますが、このときの教訓をへて、彼は自ら現場に出向き直接現場の人の声を聞くようにしているそうです。

わたしも将来はIT業界でマネージャー、経営レベルの仕事がしたいと思っていますが、今はあえてエンジニアをしています。現場を知らないマネージャーにレベルの高い仕事ができるわけがないから。日本にいると技術すらまともに知らないマネージャークラスのエンジニアが多いことに実に驚きます。彼らがしている仕事は、下請けや派遣を従えて、金のやり取りをしているだけ。
日本という閉ざされた空間で仕事しているうちはいいけど、これが他の国のエンジニアと仕事をしようとすると絶対成功しないです。実際に中国のオフィショア開発でも失敗しているという例はたくさん聞きます。

わたしがインドに来た理由もそこにあります。日本だとプログラマーといっても実際にプログラムするよりも、ドキュメントの体裁とか雑務、保守•運用という類いの仕事がおおすぎです。規模の小さい会社だと派遣やら出向で雑務をやらされるリスクが高いし、かといってある程度大手に行ったとしても、現場レベルの仕事をできることはほとんどありません。テスト要因で現場に入って、テストしかしたことがないから開発をさせてもらえないという人もざらにいます。
インドはソフトウェアの開発拠点として位置づけられてるし、英語が普及しているのでグルーバルに活躍することを目標にしている人には日本で働くよりもはるかに適した場所です。

彼の今までのキャリアをみながら、この先マネージャー、経営ができるようになるにはどうすればいいか、というのを考えながら読みました。
